Twin's Mission Trip

  Conner McAbee

I am writing to inform you about a mission trip to Guatemala that I am going on in July, 2012. Our church, Biltmore Baptist, is planning three mission trips, one to Kenya, one to Haiti, and one to Guatemala. I feel like God is leading me to go on the trip to Guatemala and touch the lives there. I am very excited to answer His call to Guatemala and make an impact on the children and families there. God has been doing wonders in my life recently, helping me grow both mentally and spiritually, and I want to use the gifts He has given me to glorify His Holy Name and spread His eternal Kingdom.

Thank you so much for your prayers for me. I am so grateful that God has placed you in my life. This mission trip, being my first, means so much to me. I believe that I am so ready to change the world with the help of my Lord and Savior. I would like to tell you about something that happened the other day in my Civics class. My friends and I were having a conversation.  One said, “I need new clothes.” Another said, “I need more music.” And yet another added, “I need more money,” to which I added, “I need to go to a third world country and save a life.” They didn’t say anything else for the rest of that class. I feel like God has been preparing my heart for this and I am readily accepting His call.

In order to make this trip possible, I am working very hard to earn my own way. I have taken on extra hours at Chick-Fil-A and accepted side jobs, baby-sitting and mowing lawns. I will be putting even more time and effort into this mission trip because I fully understand that it takes hard work to be a soldier for God. I understand that this will not be easy, but I am also making strong efforts to raise enough money for this mission trip myself.

I ask that you keep me in your prayers.  I will be serving in Guatemala July 17-31.  I want to thank you so much for your prayers, “For where two of three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” -Matthew 18:20. Thank you for making such a difference in my life.  I am also praying for you as you as you serve Him.

Dearest Fellow Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I greet you in the blessed name of Jesus Christ.  I have been given the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Guatemala and tell children and adults the wonderful news of Jesus Christ.  We will be in Guatemala City the last two weeks in July, 2012.  I am very excited to use the gifts that God gave me to witness to people who have never had the opportunity to hear the Good News.  We will be working with an organization called Hope, with provides a nutritious lunch for 200+ children each weekday along with daily Bible lessons and values of the week.  Hope also provides school supplies, tutoring and homework assistance, after-school programs, soccer programs and medical clinics, as well as civic, social, and recreational activities to build strong moral and Christian character in this next generation.  I feel that God has led me to Guatemala because there are many impoverished children there and I want to help them find out Jesus is the answer.  My heart burns for them and I want to help them in any way possible.
The total cost of the trip is $2,200.  This is a lot of money, but if God really wants me to go, I will find a way to pay for it.  I currently have a job at Chick-fil-a and have been working overtime in order to do my part.  I have also been babysitting, yard work, and a variety of jobs that I can do for others.  I know the trip will mean a lot more if I pay most of my own way.   All that I ask of you is your prayers.  Your prayer is the most important thing for me.  For Jesus says, “The most compelling reason for praying with others is Jesus' promise that "whenever two of you on earth agree about anything you pray for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my Name, I am there with them". (Matthew 18:19, 20).

When I return to the USA, I will follow-up with a full report of all God accomplishes with your prayers.  Thank you for considering this as I seek to make Christ known and to serve Him.  If you have any questions please call me at 828-702-5145 or the Student Ministry Office at Biltmore Baptist Church at 828-687-1111.

Thank you for how you have touched my life.   I pray God is blessing you and your family in every way possible.

Note from Kenny & Nicole,

We want to emphasize our thoughts that you:

  • Pray from July 17 - 31, 2012
  • They are determined to raise most money on their own, for which we are thankful!

God Bless,
